Benefits of a Grind and Seal Finish for Your Concrete Floor
One of the reasons the grind and seal finish is so popular is because it’s a highly attractive yet low-cost solution for existing concrete surfaces.
Concrete floors are everywhere in Australia — from cafes to industrial warehouses to upmarket homes. But, inevitably, they crack, stain and darken, especially if the concrete slabs were poorly applied decades ago.
With our grind and seal service, we grind down the tarnished or scratched concrete until we reach the brighter, smoother substrate. A clear sealant is then applied. The result is a good-as-new concrete floor free of stains and flaws; all at a fraction of the cost of laying new concrete.
And that’s barely scratching the surface. Our grind and seal finish offers a wealth of benefits that make it perfect for stylish residential homes as well as high-traffic commercial sites.

Anti-slip Finishes
While the grind and seal process does result in a smooth sheen, it’s not necessarily a slippery one. However, food and liquid spillage, or even sweat, can make it one. We strongly recommend you discuss adding a non-slip finish with our experts. We’ll discuss your expected traffic level and how to mitigate as much risk as possible.

Cost of Concrete Grind and Seal
Policrete’s grind and seal floor finishing cost, on average, $50 per square metre. More expensive jobs tend to settle at around $80 per square meter. To place these prices in context, these prices are half as much as what you would pay for a mechanically polished concrete finish.
The grind and seal cost is so much lower than concrete polishing simply because it is less intensive. It requires less labour and fewer materials. Don’t let that fool you, though, because the results are just as beautiful
why choose a policrete floor
Polished concrete is a hard wearing floor. It’s easy to maintain, easy to clean, and it’s stylish. That’s why so many of our clients choose polished concrete flooring for their residential, commercial, or industrial projects.
It’s resistant to industrial chemicals, oils, food stains, greases, and fatty materials, so it’s very easy to clean. And, thanks to its reflective quality, it bounces light around a room, making it appear lighter and brighter.
We can mechanically polish concrete, grind and seal concrete, and add a range of gloss finishes. Let us know the purpose of the project, and we’ll suggest the most cost-effective finish.
